Who We Are

Mark A. Hill, born and educated in the United Kingdom, he graduated in Economics from Lancaster University in 1989 before moving to Italy, where he has lived and worked for many years.

His poetic work has received wide international recognition. His poems were featured in the Top Writers of 2012 list by the UK Poetry Library and published in the prestigious Live Canon 2013 Prize Anthology. In 2015, he was commended in the Segora Poetry Prize and shortlisted for the Canon First Collection Prize. One of his poems was selected for the anthology “154 new poems by 154 contemporary poets… in response to Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets”, which was commissioned and performed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 2016, marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

In 2023, he was recommended in the international Munster Fool for Poetry Chapbook Competition and, in 2024, his work was published in literary journals such as DREICH, The Pierian, Cerasus press and Southlight 36 edition. In 2025, he was published in the Penumbra Journal of Literature and Art at California State University Stanislaus and And Other Poems. In 2024, he was awarded the prestigious Azerate Poetry Prize by Hidden Hand Press, a global recognition of
excellence in contemporary poetry.

Beyond poetry, Mark A. Hill is the author of the novel Mitchell Rose and The Bologna Massacre, set to be published in 2024 by Wallace Publishing—an intriguing work blending suspense, historical setting, and psychological depth.

His writing is known for its precise, musical language, the depth of its themes, and a frequently experimental approach to poetic form. While he has extensive experience as a teacher and communicator, Mark sees writing as his truest calling—a way to explore the human condition and transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries.
